NB! 12.1917 (!) German occupation, field post card Arensburg/Kuressaare-Lichtenberg
Early card from 1917 when Germans had occupied island Saaremaa but not yet arrived to mainland, which happened in February 20, 1918. Unit cachet “Schiffahrtsabtellung beim Chef des Feldeisenbahnwesens” translates roughly as “Shipping department at the chief of the Field Railway”, likely at port of Arensburg (Roomassaare). On picture side inscribed “Arensburg den 13.12.1917”. Deluxe exhibition item.
