1920 interesting field post, 3.2.1920 end of war, “8 JALAWÄE POLK”, to Rõuge


Field post card sent from the field by serviceman of 8. Infantry Regiment (unit cachet “8. JALAWÄE POLK * Kirjadele”). Inscribed date “3/II” means February 3, 1920. War of Independence officially ended on previous day, February 2 1920, when Treaty of Tartu was signed between Estonia and Russia. Written message reads: “Dear Julius! Soon comes the day where our soldiers will come back home. So prepare everything delicious to welcome us. Greetings to everyone! Richard”.
